Every year,
Dale Copeland, in Taranaki New Zealand, hosts a collage exchange
exhibition. Participating artists get to create and submit 13 (hence
Bakers Dozen) collages, one of which is selected and exhibited in
New Zealand and on the Internet, then forwarded to the Museo de
Collage in Mexico for their permanent collection. Each artist then
receives a package of 12 collages from different artists back in
return.
For this
event I chose a theme - "Handiworks" which incorporates
hands in every collage. "Handiworks #4", to the left,
is the piece that will be exhibited in New Zealand and forwarded
to the Museo de Collage. Because as with any exhibition, you hardly
ever get a chance to see the body of work each artist did for the
exchange, I have put all the collages I submitted here for you collage
afficionados to enjoy.
I encourage
you to look at the entire exhibition currently on Dale's website
for the month of July : http://virtual.tart.co.nz/
. July 2nd the actual exhibition will begin in the SUBTARANIAN
gallery in New Plymouth, New Zealand. It runs for 3 weeks.
After the
exhibition is over, I will link this page to the permanent location
on the Web where you can see the work. Needless to say I had a great
time participating in this event and look forward to next year's
event.
